Harris Health is seizing 8.9 acres of Hermann Park to build a new Ben Taub Hospital.

This will cost billions of tax dollars and is in the wrong location. ‍ Residents deserve a careful study of our current and future trauma, specialty, and primary care needs before Harris Health commits us to this costly new project. Tell Harris County not to condemn this parkland.

Harris County Hearing: March 19.

Harris Health is condemning nearly 9 acres of flood-prone parkland to construct a new Ben Taub Hospital,
to be funded by billions in future public bond money.

This is the wrong location. It is next to the county’s only other Level 1 Trauma Center. The entire area has flooded and will flood again. Harris Health’s own analysis showed that the hospital should move closer to its patients.

Harris Health has shown no studies to justify this decision, and has not involved the community.

The bond that voters supported in 2023 did not mention seizing parkland or building an entirely new hospital on this site.

Please join us in opposing this seizure of public parkland for a misguided project that will reduce access to health care.

Tell your elected
officials to stop the seizure.
